Today I want to introduce to you 2 of my readers who have been following my blog and have experienced success in their eczema healing.
As I write this, I’m also on the plane from Italy heading back home 🙂 The weather in Italy was beautiful (a sunny 28 degrees!), and it totally lifted off the dryness on my skin from the 9 degree weather in Canada!
Aside from that, I’m also so excited to share with you two eczema success stories that I know it will encourage you.
Whenever I read stories like this – I’m reminded of why I became a nutritionist and why I created this blog in the first place: for you, reading this. As much as you feel impacted by testimonies, I’m also so moved by them. I love working with my clients, but also with my readers who are looking for advice.
2 weeks ago, Laura, who is one of my readers, wrote this on my Facebook wall (I was SO encouraged):
How awesome is her story! I love being able to share how diet can really change one’s eczema. I’d also like to introduce Cynthia to you as well. A few months ago, she contacted me because she was devastated that she had to quit her job because her eczema was so bad.
She has been using steroids for quite some time and was afraid she would suffer from Topical Steroid Withdrawal. Luckily, she did not. After some back and forth advice, I’m happy to announce the progress she’s had so far! It truly made my day. 🙂 I almost teared reading her message.
Cynthia’s Success Story
Here is Cynthia’s story:
“I came across Abby’s website when I was going through one of the most depressing times of my life…
I suffered from eczema since childhood, but for the most part, it was tolerable. However, after I had two kids by age 26, it took a turn for the worse. With two kids, I didn’t have the time to research when I should have, and trusted in my “acclaimed” dermatologist. His diagnosis? Sterioids- lots of steroids. And when that didn’t work, I was put on antibiotic, after antibiotic… but those stopped working effectively as well. I hated the side effects, it took over my life, I was sad, and angry often. I couldn’t sleep and I was always anxious. All of this happened within a span of 2 short years.
After the third antibiotic stopped working, I had enough and knew I needed a different approach. The majority of my eczema was on my hands and forearms. However, AFTER the steroid use, it spread all over my body. It got so bad that I had to leave a career that I loved, that I went to school for and had invested 8 years of my life in.
After much research on steroid usage for eczema from various websites, I became quite depressed. I was certain that I would undergo serious withdrawals if I chose to stop steroids all together.
But then I came across Abby’s website, and for the first time in a long time… I had hope. I contacted Abby and she was kind enough to respond almost instantly. After a few dialogs, a lot of tips and encouragement, I began my journey. First, I started the gluten free diet, about the same time I went cold turkey on steroids. I also changed out my shampoo, soap and detergents. Three months in, I added daily probiotics and vitamins.
It has been about 7 months now and I don’t have a trace of eczema on my hands. I can now bathe my children, wash dishes, do laundry, and do art activities with my kids without wincing in pain.
I still have some dry areas on my body, mostly shoulders and face, but other than that, I’m doing 10 times better than before. Still working on adding exercise to the routine to help with that
From myself, and my whole family, THANK YOU ABBY, for all your wisdom, your encouragement and generosity… we wish you all the best and look forward to staying in touch”
Well done, Cynthia! I’m so proud of you.
